For children with special needs, art is more than simply drawing or coloring. It is also a natural way of learning and therapeutic expression, helping children explore the world around them and express themselves in their own unique way.
Through art activities, children have opportunities to develop many essential skills:
Colors, shapes, and free drawing allow children to imagine, explore, and express their inner world freely.
While participating in activities with teachers and peers, children learn to share, take turns, cooperate, and gradually understand their own emotions as well as the feelings of others.
When children describe their artwork, name colors, or communicate with teachers, their vocabulary and communication skills naturally grow.
Choosing colors, arranging elements, and completing an artwork help children practice observation, thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Activities such as holding a pencil and coloring help strengthen hand coordination and improve hand–eye coordination.
